Am I hurting my body or liver health with the supplements I am taking?

Question

Here are the supplements I take on daily basis

4 hydroxycut pills a day. (2 in morning, 2 in evening)
Optimum Nutrition Tribulus Tablets. (One in morning, one in evening)
Muscletech Creatine (Powder Form) -Only one serving on lifting days, (approx. 4 times a week)
Jack3d (Only on lifting days, two servings before lift)
BSN Nitrix Nitric Oxide Tablets. 9 a day, (3 before each meal)
3 fish oil tablets a day.

Is this too much? Is it bad for my liver and kidney health? I drink approximately a half gallon of water a day? Serious bodybuilders, knowledgeful people please help! 5 stars to best answer!

Answer

All oral medications go to the liver, to be broken down before going to the rest of the body. I'm going to use the example of vitamins. People may take alot of different kinds. There are two types of vitamins: water soluble and fat soluble. The water soluble ones usually don't stay in the body long...they are disposed of in the urine. So, if someone takes too much... that may not be a problem. However the fat soluble ones don't leave the body as fast. Many are stored in the liver itself. So taking too much can cause it to be toxic to the body and cause health problems. Just as people can have too little amounts, they can also have too high amounts.

Another example is certain minerals. Some people have hereditary conditions where the body holds onto too much iron or copper. However, someone can also consume too much iron or copper. This builds up in their organs and can affect every organ of the body. It is known that some symptoms of what a person takes into the body (like carrots which has beta carotene) which causes the skin, if eaten in excess, to become yellow....can mimic Jaundice (which is the yellowing of the whites of the eyes and skin due to bilirubin levels being high because of biliary or liver disease.

The point I'm trying to make is that everyone's body chemistry is different and how that person body handles different substances put into it is different. So, no one here would be able to tell you how your body will react to it or whether it is beneficial to do it or not. Your doctor does blood testing and by those tests results he can tell if your lacking in certain things, need replacement of certain things and how your body is reacting to it. Therefore, he would be the best one to ask this question to. He also has more knowledge about how the drugs are structured and work in the body and your medical background.

Those who have liver disease are told, No alcohol and not to take any medications that are not approved by or prescribed by their doctors. One reason is because the liver cells are damaged and may not handle the drugs appropriately now...another reason is because most people don't know how these drugs react with other drugs, foods, etc....another reason is because they take things thinking it will help when it will actually cause more damage or harm them. Mistakes being made where a person takes acetaminophen with alcohol which can cause instant liver cell damage is a good example.

I hope this has helped. Best wishes

Daily routine that gives the best workout of your life

Here is what I do to get the best workout for my health

The biggest thing that I use is Body Fortress Whey Protein (available at Amazon). Right after a workout I mix 16 ounces of (Organic lowfat milk)-regular non-organic milk is loaded with things that are terrible for you. Organic costs more but in this case is worth it. I mix the 16 ounces milk with one scoop of the protein powder and add in a banana for the potassium. Mix this up for 1 minute and I have a delicous shake that delivers all my muscles need to grow stronger for the next time. I do take a Centrum daily but that is it as far as supplements go.

The biggest thing if you want to get stronger and or bigger is to be smart about your workouts. I do ZERO exercises that target only one muscle such as bicep curls. That is a waste of time. After about one hour your body starts to undergo depletion in which your body is starved for energy sources..After a hard one hour workout STOP and give your body what it needs. I do 20-30 minutes of intense CORE exercises every other day (tons of stuff on YouTube) you can mix this up. What I do is one exercise after the other after the other for one minute each. I usually pick about 6 exercises...Once I have done them all I rest for a minute of two and do them a second time. If I have a few minutes left I do jumping jacks till the time runs out. (onlinestopwatch.com is great it gives you a timer on your computer). a typical week is like this for me.

Here is my daily routine

Monday- Full Body Blast- 20-30 mins Core- Jerk and Clean 3 sets of 10 -pushups 3 sets of 30 then I do 3 sets of 20 deadlifts only bringing the weight to my waist concentrating on contracting my ABS..this is the absolute best abdominal exercise you can do bar none.

Tuesday- At least 45 minutes stretching or YOGA sounds gay but keeps you limber and injury free.

Wednesday- Shoulders, Arms, and Back CORE (again) standing rear delt raise 20 x 3 Front Dumbell Raise 20 x 3 Military Press (Dumbells followed by Barbell 10 x 3 each) Hot potato squats for one minute followed by skier swings for one minute (these are on YouTube if you need to see how they are done)

Thursday Same as Tuesday

Friday--Same as Monday

Saturday Same as Tuesday and Thursday

Sunday OFF or run or whatever...

There is nothing about this workout that will not give you the best workout of your life without killing you....If you stick with this in 3 weeks time you will see the best results of your life...good luck

For workouts remember you are trying to get stronger, not be a weird bodybuilder. Stick to compound barbell lifts. Squats should the centerpiece of your workouts. I also supplement with equate (fiber: when you eat 400grams of protein you need to overdose on fiber or poops are not fun), creatine, vitamins, glucosomine and chondritin, and lots of fish oil. If you want throw in beta-alanine go ahead it won't hurt anything.

Why weight loss supplements don't work?

We should all learn something every day and hopefully you will learn this. There is no such thing as a diet pill, liquid, powder, or fat burner supplement! Got it? Think about it. If any of this garbage worked, why would 2/3 of the adults in the US be overweight, obese, or morbidly obese? We would be lined up without having to spend a dime advertising if someone had the magic formula. Alli is the only over the counter weight loss pill approved by the FDA. There are only three prescription weight loss medications approved. Do you think that if any of them REALLY worked we would have a $60 billion a year industry in "weight loss" supplements? The big three pharmaceuticals would dominate the market.

Approved or otherwise, none of these weight loss supplements guarantee anything unless you establish a healthy diet and exercise program. So why not just establish a healthy diet and exercise program and keep your money? You will be spending somewhere between $2 and $4 per day on a product that is not approved or guaranteed to do anything! The only weight loss supplement I recommend is a basic multivitamin. And yes they are dangerous. Heart, liver, kidney, intestinal, and neurological damage and death have all been the result of diet pills. That is why the FDA hasn't approved any new ones for 14 years. These supplement manufacturers are using human guinea pigs (you) for these products. As long as no one gets sick or dies, and they don't get fined or shut down they will keep making and selling this junk. Whether it works or not.

I say it over and over and over. "If any one of these products really worked, why are there so many?"

The only active thing in preworkout supplements is caffeine since ephedrine was outlawed. So, you're paying for a bunch of worthless crap and caffeine...a total scam. And, of course, you're risking your health because supplements are not approved by the FDA, are virtually unregulated, do not have the protections afforded foods and drugs, are not recommended by the US National Institute of Health, do not require any testing, are often contaminated, may not even be what the label says, usually contain cheap ingredients, are often over priced scams, have been known to be dangerous, and can have numerous adverse or unwanted side effects. Your side effects are common to people with caffeine sensitivity (visual aberrations, high anxiety, nervousness, insomnia, heart palpitations, etc.).

The best health experts in the world (the US National Institute of Health), the people US doctors listen to, advise you should never take a supplement without the recommendation of a health care professional because all supplements are potentially hazardous to your health as supplements do not have to be tested. The result is many supplements are contaminated, worthless, have false advertising or label claims, and may contain dangerous or worthless chemicals or substances.

Here's an example of one scam site (bodybuilding.com) which pretends to be a bodybuilding website but is really just a front for selling supplements as evidenced by this list of over 60 dangerous supplement products they were forced to recall and take off the market --> http://www.usrecallnews.com/2009/11/body… . More here --> http://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/Safet…

Bodybuilding.com is a good example why you should never buy supplements whether you want to burn fat, gain weight, build muscle, or are just hoping to improve your health. The scammers who sell junk supplements do so by using advertising, celebrity endorsements, fake testimonials, phony interviews and news reports, bogus reviews, and every other technique possible to convince you their product is safe and effective. They have saturated the internet with thousands of web sites so no matter what you search for, you'll only find glowing reviews of their products at the top of the search results. And, the result of this effort has led an entire generation of young people to believe in fat burners, diet pills, mass gainers, pre and post workout supplements and other junk which not only do we not need but which are ineffective, a waste of money, and possibly even hazardous. The voice of truth is relatively quite compared to the $billions spent on supplement advertising, so before you buy any supplements, inform yourself with the links below.

Scammers target the young, gullible, and naive demographic because they know they can sway them with greater ease than the older, wiser buying public. But, there are some easy questions you can answer using simple logic to be able to qualify a scammer as suspect. Here are some examples.

• If there was an easy way to do hard things like burn fat or build muscle, why doesn't the whole world know about it? How could that be kept secret when that's what so many people desire?

• If there was a supplement that helped people shed pounds, why doesn't your doctor recommend it? If you're overweight, why doesn't your physician just give you the pill or recommend the acai or HCG diet or whatever? Why are physicians always telling the same story about obesity and how to cope with it?

• If there were supplements that could help burn fat or build muscle, why haven't the huge and powerful pharmaceutical companies taken them over? Why let the scammers like GNC and Weider continue to make $millions off the public when they have a much greater capacity for providing such products?

• Why do people pay big bucks to have liposuction or stomach stapling if supplements could really help them to lose fat?

There is only one good answer to all of these questions. Most of the supplements which are supposed to make you lose fat, add muscle, grow taller, kill appetite, gain weight, bulk up, get ripped, etc. just don't work. It's really that simple.

If you just can't resist buying a supplement, at the very least make sure it bears the trademark logo and name of one of the following independent testing laboratories.

• USP (US Pharmacopoeia)
• ComsumerLab.com
• NSF (NSF International)
Such testing does not guarantee effectiveness or safety but it's better than nothing. The best advice remains: Don't use supplements.

Can I buy calcium pills from store like Walmart?

Taking calcium pills purchased from a store like Walmart is not a good idea. Look on the bottle and see what it says about the type of calcium. If it is calcium carbonate, don't buy it, don't put it in your mouth and stay away from it. Calcium carbonate, like antacids, prevent Chromium from being absorbed by your body. The Pancreas requires chromium as it's primary mineral to keep it working correctly. The pancreas provides your body with digestive enzymes, insulin, glucagon, etc. and is a very important organ and must be looked after.

Those pills also contain magnesium stearate that is a TRANS FAT, nutrient absorption inhibitor, and is toxic to the body. 5% of the contents of those vitamins contain this bad guy. The next thing to realize is that most of the ingredients in those vitamin packages are SYNTHETIC CHEMICAL ACTIVATORS, not real vitamins. Your body knows the difference between synthetic and once living sources. Many people get heart problems, cataracts, bone spurs, and kidney stones from taking those vitamins.

Vitamin D3 is a very important thing to have in your blood for many reasons, but taking the kind of D you get in milk and supplements like those found at Walmart is not what you want to put into your body! Vitamin D3 is really a sterol made from cholesterol. It's final synthesis in the body is in your kidneys. Getting out in the sun everyday is a very good idea to generate D3 in your body. There are good supplements you can take for D3, but you won't find them at Walmart!

good luck to you

How to gain muscle mass?

The only way for you to gain muscle mass is to eat more, consume enough protein, and lift heavy. All those hyped up supplements like noXplode and jack3d are just L-arginine supplements (nitric oxide) and are placebos. BCAA and glutamine supplements are also popular, but they're really not needed for a typical person. You can get a good amount of those from proteins.

Creatine is one of the few supplements that will work, but not in the way people think it is. Creatine is just a nutrient that is found in red meat that helps your muscles produce energy (ATP), which will help you pull off some extra reps where your muscle would normally be fatigued. 5g a day at any time will get you to reach muscle saturation and enjoy the full benefits of it. No need for complex loading and de-loading phases that the companies want you to go through.

Protein powder is honestly the only "must-have" supplement to help you fill your daily protein quotas.

First of all, the most important thing when it comes to diet and exercise is research. You need to know what you are doing before you do it. Or you will find yourself wasting a lot of time and effort. If you have been working out for 7 months and only seen 5lbs of gain (and you have no lost body fat) obviously you haven't been working out properly or been on the proper diet and you've wasted a lot of effort. You don't need unhealthy cheater supplements. You just need to figure out what you are doing wrong, and fix it. If you aren't eating enough protein or working out appropriately, supplements won't help you. They can't compensate for what you aren't doing right.

Make sure you are eating around 120-150 grams of protein on the days you workout. Protein is 100% necessary for muscle mass gain. Without it your muscle cannot repair and get larger. This is one of the things people miss out on. You also need to make sure you are doing exercises correctly, using the right amount of weight, and doing a reasonable set/rep combination.

Supplements are just as much cheats as hormones and they can be just as unhealthy. Things like Creatine cause liver and kidney problems. Things like NO Explode can lead to sexual and heart problems. etc. Supplements are dangerous and unhealthy, you should avoid them.

What can I take to make me feel less tired or fatigued?

The answer to that is caffeine. Caffeine is everywhere. It's in Coke and soda pop, chocolate, coffee, tea, and NoDoz pills at your drug store. It's ubiquitous in supplements because it gives people the sensation a worthless supplement is doing something. So, before you buy some expensive product (like a huge Café Grande @ Starbucks or some energy drink) just to get the caffeine, check out NoDoz --> http://www.drugs.com/cdi/nodoz.html which you can get dirt cheap at your drug store over the counter. It's the only nonprescription stimulant in the US that works on everyone across the board and can be purchased OTC on the cheap at markets and drug stores. You should, however, beware the adverse side effects because many people suffer from insomnia, increased anxiety, heart palpitations, etc. when using caffeine.

Caffeine does not give people energy. It does, however, stimulate people and that creates the sense of having more energy. Natural energy, the ability to perform physically for long periods of time aka stamina or endurance, comes from peak physical health and not neurological stimulation. So, it's possible what you really need is more exercise, more sleep, and/or a better diet. Food for thought.

You can read about stimulants here --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stimulant

Don't waste a lot of money on a supplement and get something which will contain a bunch of junk you don't need just to get a little caffeine when you can get that on the cheap in pill or capsule form.

Good luck and good health!!

How I lost 30 pounds in 5 months by spending my money at the grocery and gym

Alli is the only FDA approved OTC diet pill. Orlistat (prescription Alli) and phentermine (Adipex) are the only two FDA prescription drugs. Sibutramine was pulled last year. Everything else out there including the name knockoffs are unapproved and unproven, loaded with caffeine and vitamins. You can lose the weight in 3 to 4 months if you do it right. 80% of weight loss is diet. You can eat a healthy diet and lose weight. You can eat a healthy diet and exercise and lose more weight. You can exercise and eat a poor diet and not lose and even gain weight. A good healthy diet high in fiber, lean meats, eggs, complex carbohydrates, whole grains, antioxidant foods, healthy beverages and low in added sugar and salt help people lose weight, lower cholesterol, increase energy, improve brain function, lower blood pressure, reduce cancer risk and have a more positive lifestyle!

You need to eat a lot more food and a lot more fiber! Diets that exclude foods from any food group are fad diets and do not lead to permanent weight loss or solve any other health issues. First, try to kick your fiber intake to 40 grams of both soluble and insoluble fiber. Whatever you do, get your fiber from your food, not from a jar. Fruits and vegetables have good fiber in them. A high fiber diet increases the metabolism. Try a breakfast cereal with at least 20% of recommended daily allowance of fiber in it. They are usually low in sugar so there is a double benefit. Blueberries or raspberries on top add more fiber and antioxidants. But fresh or frozen, not the kind in syrup. Raw nuts are a great source of fiber, healthy fats, and antioxidants. Avocados are the best. Lots of beans, peas, and grains are high fiber. Whole grain breads. Fiber kicks up the metabolism so you actually burn more calories. These foods will give you more gas in the beginning but if eaten daily, the bacteria in the digestive tract will elevate lowering the gas output.

This will get you on the path for a healthy daily bowel movement. This helps clean the system and aids healthy digestion. I know it goes against everything you've heard but eating lots of the right foods will actually help you lose weight! Next, take an age appropriate basic daily multivitamin. Don't look at your multivitamin as nutrition but more as an insurance policy. Think of it as filling in the gaps in your daily diet as opposed to a primary source of nutrients.

You have to drink lots of water to be healthy. But you can disguise it. Fill your glass all the way full with ice before pouring low sugar beverages. Try iced green tea with a splash of orange juice in it for sweet. More antioxidants. Add lemon juice to water for flavor. Slice up a cucumber and float it in pitcher of water. Gives it salty fresh taste. But you must drink up to 100 oz of water daily to help your body get rid of waste and the natural toxins.

Last, you need to get 7-10 hours of quality sleep depending on your age. All recent sleep studies report a connection between poor sleep and weight gain.

You must combine a healthy diet with exercise to multiply the benefit. Whether an hour a day in the weight room or just a 30 minute brisk walk every day, the added benefit of a regular exercise program really do increase and accelerate healthy weight loss.

I lost 30 pounds in 5 months by spending my money at the grocery and gym and have kept it off for two years now. 3% of people that attempt weight loss lose it and keep it off for two years. It is not easy. It is a lifestyle change.

Good luck and good health.

What are the health benefits of Garlic?

Garlic has many health benefits and is a proven aphrodisiac. Although garlic can be prepared as part of numerous dishes, for optimum effectiveness, it is suggested that you eat it raw. Ideally, 2 or 3 cloves of raw garlic every day are recommended. Simply chop them up finely and combine them into a salad vinaigrette or add them to a sandwich.

White onion, like garlic, is thought to help enhance the libido and overall sexual health. Carrots are said to be particularly helpful in boosting a man's sexual staying power. It is suggested that 150 grams of carrots be consumed as part of a daily diet. Another vegetable that is considered to have aphrodisiac properties is asparagus. Dried dates and black raisins are both high in fiber and fuel the body with sustained energy. Consuming both with nuts, such as almonds, pistachio, and walnuts can provide an extra boost of protein that works well with the high fiber found in dried fruit. Whey protein may also be helpful in increasing energy, stamina and endurance. Other than that, the best known aphrodisiac is either red Chinese or red Korean ginseng which are c laimed to be the most potent of all ginseng supplements. Other popular aphrodisiacs include turmeric, Mira puama, ginger, chocolate, and damiana.

Who are ovo lacto vegetarians?

Who are OVO Lacto Vegetarians?

Most vegetarians are ovo lacto vegetarians which means they eat no meat, but do eat dairy products and eggs. Ovo lacto vegetarians can get some complete protein and vitamin B12 from eating eggs and dairy products. But, depending on your gender and age, you probably need 45-55 grams of protein every day. One egg gives you about 6 grams. As a comparison, 3 oz of lean beef gives you about 27 grams (plus heme iron and zinc).

Protein is tough because it's not a simple nutrient. It's made up of about 20 different amino acids. Your body makes some of those amino acids; the rest must come from the food you eat. Meat, eggs and dairy products contain all the amino acids your body needs to to make the complete protein it needs to grow and function. Most veggies only contain some of those amino acids. A vegetarian needs to eat a wide variety of veggies and grains every day (not necessarily every meal) so your body can combine the different amino acids each one contains to make complete protein. There are internet sites that will tell you which veggie/grain contains which amino acid and how to combine them. Beans and rice, for example, make up complete protein. As do peanut butter and whole wheat bread.

The heme iron in meat, eggs, dairy products is much easier for your body to absorb and use than the non heme iron in veggies. In fact, some veggies (soy and spinach are two) actually contain oxalates which inhibit your body's ability to absorb iron and calcium. Low iron can lead to anemia.

Zinc is tough to get on a vegetarian diet....as are the omega3s, so important for heart health.

Vitamin B12 is not found in any plant source, though if you eat eggs and dairy products you should be able to get it there.

Soy is one of the few veggies that give you high quality protein. But it is a high oxalate food and also contains estrogen like compounds that have been shown to damage the thyroid, affect women's menstrual cycle and men's sperm count. This guy grew man boobs and developed serious sexual/emotional problems when he drank a lot of soy milk.

Why Vegans don't require supplements?

Question: Why Vegans don't require supplements?

Answer1: Vegans don't require supplements.

How to eat healthy, being vegan?

You need to make sure you eat pulses at least three times a week and fruits and vegetables everyday. Have a fruit for breakfast(apart from something else of course) and a vegetable/pulses for lunch and dinner. Make sure you include all vegetables, pulses, lentils and beans(kidney beans, chickpeas, black eyed peas, green peas and many more)

Don't eat mock meat and soybean as mock meat contains sodium and soybean is bad for health( http://rheumatic.org/soy.htm ). Mock meat is also soy based so too much soy can be bad for health. Actually even a little soy is bad for health. What's wrong with soy? Soy beans are naturally toxic to humans, but they're harmless when they go through a fermentation process, which is how we get tofu. But soy is being used in more and more things these days. Just look through your cabinet. You'll be surprised. Anyway, most companies aren't putting their soy beans through this process because it takes too much time, and time money. Instead, they put it through a chemical process, but this rarely gets rid of the soy's toxicity completely. Symptoms of a high soy diet are thyroid problems, breast cancer, and other complications. People get these symptoms because the soy they eat isn't fermented.

Mock meat can never be part of a staple diet(food what you eat everyday). You can may be have it once or twice a month. Its a luxury and not a need. You need to consume naturally occurring FRUITS,VEGETABLES(cauliflower, carrot, potato, beetroot, okra, eggplant, radish, turnip, cabbage, bitter gourd, spinach, capsicum(aka bell peppers)),PULSES(chickpeas, kidney beans, black eyed peas, green gram, black gram, lentils, lablab bean, moth bean, horse gram, cow pea),NUTS(cashew nuts, peanuts, walnuts, pistachios, raisins) and GRAINS. Make something like rice and bread your staple diet. You can have rice with vegetables for lunch and bread(I have Indian bread usually) with pulses for dinner(or you can do it whichever way you like though that's the way I do it).

You can have fruits for breakfast besides something else. You will get all vitamins and minerals from fruits, vegetables, pulses and nuts. Also, don't fall for the myth that says vegans/vegetarians need to take multivitamin supplements. Vegans/vegetarians don't need to take supplements as they get all their nutrients from fruits, vegetables and pulses. Supplements are supposed to be taken by people with deficiencies so do not take them unless they have been prescribed to you by a doctor.

How I Know If I Am Taking Too Many Herbal Supplements?

Question : I am currently 23 years old 5'10 140 and in good shape with no prescriptions. I am currently taking saw palmetto, hydrolyzed collagen, bee propolis, bee pollen, royal jelly, eleuthero root, maca, chaga, omega 369, mixed greens powder, multi vitamin, acetyl l carnitine, goji mango acai noni juice, beta sitosterol and possibly a few more natural supplements. Could I be taking too many different kinds? I limit it to one pill a piece regardless of the recommended daily amount.

Answer1: That is way too much and you are way to young and healthy to do this. It is not necessary. All you need are some multi- vitamins and eat a good supply of fruits and veggies, take extra fiber as well as drinking approx. 70oz of water (4 bots.) You have to limit the things u put inside your body because u may be conflicting things that do not work well together. I would review the reasons I was taking those supplements and see also if those supplements have any side effect when taken together. What you could also do is take 3-5 at a time depending on needs and then rotate them when you are finished taking a bottle.

Answer2: Don't see a problem, except will the Noni, any benefit you get with Noni you will loose when you stop drinking it, and those benefit will be gone quickly! Unless your having a problem getting it up, for your age you don't really need the Maca and Saw palmetto. The bee propolis, is something that has value when your sick or weaken, I would save that for those times and not take it daily. Depending on how long you have been using the hydrolyzed collagen, if you have not seen improvement for what ever it is your trying to heal or support after two months, then stop taking it and switch to Calendula capsules (Calendula is a true healer). With all that your taking, quality of the product will make a huge different in how you feel and heal.

Answer3: Why on earth would you WANT to take that many?

A) there is no need
B) you couldn't possibly have that many things "wrong" with you
C) more than a few of those are a total waste of money
D) A couple of those have some serious side effects
E) if you are really having that much of a problem with your sex life at that age you need a doctor and a good diagnosis ~ not to mask symptoms with roots and berries which are basically bladder irritants.

Answer4: You are taking too many. Have you ever discussed you doctor? You can better eat healthy food and follow some healthy tips. That's enough for a healthy body. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables and get protein form milk , meat and fish. That's it for possessing a healthy figure. If you take supplement take a good one that actually works. You can take JUICE PLUS. It is made form real fruits and vegetables, so it will provide you whole food based nutrition. It has also protein shakes. Just it is enough and eat regular food reducing the limit of junk food and high sugar mixed food. You will maintain a healthy and fit body.

Which Supplement can help me Loose Weight?

Question: So I'm a 20 year old female, have a BMI of 29.8 and for the past year have been trying to lose weight around my waist. I don't eat more than 2000-2100 calories a day, and I exercise 3 times a week, mostly aerobic exercising. This whole year I have probably lost 5 pounds. I don't understand whats wrong, so I want to try using a weight loss supplement. I want lose 40-50 pounds by the end of June, so which supplement will help me achieve that goal? I would also like something that only burns body fat. And any other advice would help. Thanks!

Answer1: I took weight loss pills, even steroids and illegal substance for weight loss and they give nothing but side effects. The best experience I had when it comes to weight loss is auriculotherapy, you can go to the nearest acupressure clinic for it. Mariah carey lost weight using this as well as celine dion. There are products you can also buy that works using auriculotherapy such as Aurislim, you can google it for reviews, its very cost effective. Also, I suggest 3 minutes intense cardio followed by 7 minutes normal. Its very effective as well. Do this 2 to 3 cycle.

Answer2: I think African Mango is the perfect solution for you...Many people have seen desired results. I dont have personal experience because i am already slim. Check youtube video here for more.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rz8cPU19usQ

Answer3: Whats wrong is how many calories you eat. You gotta put it down a bit. Make it around 1600-1800 calories. That's where you sound like you're going wrong(you can eat food 1600 calories without starvignn youreself just research the right foods). Also do you do any exercise besides the 3 times a week? You can also go for a walk bring you're mp3 with you. It just dosent sound like youre trying hard enough. Don't go to the weight loss supplements, weight loss isn't just about losing the weight its about getting youre body healthy which is what most people forget about. Is it Good to Use Protein Supplements In My Fitness Course?

Question: I've just started to follow a body building programme from the U.S. called 'Hollywood Physique.' It's a very comprehensive & well structured course. The course uses a method called 'Sarcoplasmic Hypertrophy' training to increase muscle size but without the muscle strength.

Now here's my problem. It's a 15-30 week course & it demands that you follow it to the letter. I have no probs with following the techniques but the diet seems a little questionable.

It only allows me to eat Eggs, Red Meat & Veg/Salad. Which sounds great but when it talks about 16 eggs per day, it sounds like some sort of cholesterol nutters nightmare.

Basically, my current body type is very thin/athletic (so thin, i could sometimes be a body double for Skeletor). I'm a 36yrs old, 5'6" tall male who's primarily used to cardiovascular & catabolic workouts.

My Question is....... The fitness programme basically says that i can't have any supplements and my body will draw enough micronutrients & proteins from the masses of red meat & eggs that i'll be eating. The author doesn't base this on any scientific evidence, just purely on the fact that he didn't use any supplements himself & it worked for him.

However, i'm mindful that whilst it's lean-muscle mass i'm going for, i am also very thin. Now, I have a large bag of Critical Mass High Potency Weight Gain powder (by Applied Nutrician) , some L-Glutamine, Creatine Monohydrate & the Natabolic Stack set (LG Sciences) to help my testosternone production because i'm practically an old codger smile I bought all of those just before i started out on this Hollywood Physique programme because i wanted to ensure that i put on muscle mass. The programme makes it look as though i'll be doomed if i use these supplements.

In your opinion, although the programme states that i shouldn't use them, do you think the use of the weight gain protein powder & creatine will help me to build lean-msucle mass or should i stay away from these supplements?

Answer: There is no need for fitness suppliments. fresh vegatable, fruit , milk and meat give your body all it needs. Of cause, excersise and fresh air is good. In Need of Good Experience for Health Care Education?

Question: Where to get good experience for health care education? I will either be working at a local clinic where ever I serve, or help educate the public on good Hygiene, or Aids awareness. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Answer1:

Don't sweat it, you're halfway there. Of my group in 2008 about 12 volunteers were HE. Of those, two were actual health professionals, a retired physical therapist and a registered nurse. The remainder were simply interested in health promotion and education. To my knowledge they had exactly zero prior health industry volunteering experience. Their work was mainly to give presentations and awareness campaigns to teenagers and school groups about proper hand washing, no smoking, AIDS, sexual health, tooth cleaning, and personal hygiene.

The best things for you to be studying up on are project management and grass roots mobilization. Learn to be a solid public speaker. Read about basic psychology and sociology. Dig into examples of how teachers motivate children and you'll find almost all of it applies to groups of adults as well. Basically, if you prepare for small children you can't go wrong.

It won't be like American jobs where you can just give someone an assignment and they complete it, either good or bad. Most people I worked with wouldn't take an initiative without me being present as the excuse, "the American wants this done." Your job will be to constantly be supportive and maintain positive leadership.

This applies to every sector of the Peace Corps by the way, not just Health.

Answer2:

I qualified to be a health volunteer by virture of having Red Cross certification. Don't stress yourself out over qualifying.

The suggestion to volunteer at a hospital is excellent, though you should keep in mind that as a PCV it's not likely you'll be working in health in that kind of hands-on capacity. You'll be teaching and trying to educate people, so really, what you should be after is simply sharpening your communicating and leadership skills.

Maybe you can try the Red Cross -- become certified in CPR and First Aid and then consider teaching classes. I have gone into schools with the disaster planning program at my local chapter, but there are other opportunities out there, too.

Why health care costs so expensive?

Question: Why costs for health care so expensive?

Answers:

Answer1

Health care costs are so expensive because illegals use the emergency rooms. Now the hospital needs to raise prices on you to cover your tests AND the tests for illegals that the liberals made sure they were entitled to. In actuality they increase the amount of testing done to cover their asses ( you know liberals and their malpractice suits) and to cover for he wet backs that they just paraded thru there in exchange for more liberal votes. IN southern california alone over 75 hospitals have closed down due to the high amount of money lost giving illegals health care. Welcome to your "hope and change" Further Obama is a liar. HE says illegals wont have health care? That's a lie. As soon as he passes obamacare, hes going to give them amnesty (something all the democrats campaigned on) So in a way hes not a liar. WHen he gives them free health care, they wont be illegals any more.

Answer2:

The CEO of United Health made 10,200/hour. When you toss in the Board and executives from each of the for- and not-for-profit "providers," profits paid to health care investors (my mutual funds average 15% return), redundancy of services (every hospital, etc has to have almost every machine and the need to "keep it busy"), plus a system where one doctor has to submit 10 different versions/codes for the same service.... the "administrative" costs are the main problem. For many companies, excessive compensation, extravagance, and inconsistency drive the cost of health care. As a results, for-profit providers have "administrative" charges around 30%. Medicare, on the other hand, has 6%. 24% multiplied by trillions.... is a lot of money... thus the double digit increases in premiums every year.

Answer3:

emergency room have to treat EVERYONE who come in with anything

emergency rooms are very expensive

30 million illegal aliens use emergency rooms as their 'doctor' for everything

these 30 million illegal aliens dont pay anything for that care

the emergency room has to recoup that cost from somewhere, and guess where they do it? they pad the cost on your bill. they add it to the bill on every single thing in that hopital and associated clinic(s)

and that's a big part of why your costs are so high

and you know what? i dont see anywhere in the health care porposal that addresses this serious issue

EDIT you ask "Sue G, I hadn't heard that there are 30 million illegal aliens"

well, the government has been saying it's 12 million illegal alens for about 10 year now

simple questions - do you see more illegal aliens now, than you did 10 years ago? (in my midwetern state, I see way Way WAY more illegal aliens than i did 10 years ago = WAY MORE!!!)

do you think the border's been sealed for 10 years?

most people think it's about a million a year - that's why people are so hot about it - so add 10 million to 12, that brings you to 22 million, assuming the government wasnt understimating it in the first place ;)

oh, and notice your uninsured and underinsured motoristscoverage on your car insurance keeps going up and up?

same thing, illegal aliens driving without insurance

the 'cheap labor' that keeps breaking your bank

What are the Real Health Risks when you are Vegan?

Question: i'm 17 and vegan 4 2 months. i eat free range eggs at home. i try to eat properly and i take calcium pills and centrum. what are the real health risks in it?

Answer: I am a qualified Vegan Nutritional Therapist. My parents have been vegan for 20 years. They look extremely young for their ages. My mother is almost 60 and people think she is my sister and I am 26 years old! The vegan diet is a very healthy diet IF MANAGED PROPERLY. Dairy and meat are linked to many diseases. You can look up all the scientific evidence for that in the links I'll send you. If you want to be a HEALTHY vegan, make sure you don't eat junk food like white rolls, white rice, white pies, white sugar. All refined foods rob you of nutrients you could have had if you rather went for the WHOLEFOODS.

There is a vegan FOOD PYRAMID that you can look up. I'll send you the link. WHOLE GRAINS should be the most in your diet. Whole wheat bread, brown rice, millit, oats, etc. Look for a list of whole grains on the internet. Fruit and vegetables (fresh) should be the next highest in your diet. Then legumes (beans, lentils, chickpeas, etc). Tofu is nice if you fry it in vegetable stock and a little olive oil. Then nuts and seeds. You should get yourself some flax seed oil and use that every day over your salad. It must not be heated. It has essential fatty acids in it.

Try different nut spreads. Almond spread, peanut butter, etc. Eat lots of fresh foods and make alfalfa sprouts. Tahini has loads of calcium and so do alfalfa sprouts. Always have a VARIED diet. Don't always eat the same foods. To get sufficient protein, combine grains and legumes. For example peanut butter on whole wheat bread is probably a complete protein. So is beans on brown rice. Or lentils on brown rice. You have a 17 hour amino acid pool in your body, so you don't have to worry too much about protein if you follow the food pyramid. For cooking, only use extra virgin olive oil. It's the healthiest oil for cooking. For iron, eat lots of green leafy vegetables, like spinach. For vitamin B12 you can use B12 or complex supplements every now and again. Your body uses B12 over and over, so you don't have to be on supplements for the rest of your life. My parents never take B12 and their B12 levels are normal.
