Am I hurting my body or liver health with the supplements I am taking?

Question

Here are the supplements I take on daily basis

4 hydroxycut pills a day. (2 in morning, 2 in evening)
Optimum Nutrition Tribulus Tablets. (One in morning, one in evening)
Muscletech Creatine (Powder Form) -Only one serving on lifting days, (approx. 4 times a week)
Jack3d (Only on lifting days, two servings before lift)
BSN Nitrix Nitric Oxide Tablets. 9 a day, (3 before each meal)
3 fish oil tablets a day.

Is this too much? Is it bad for my liver and kidney health? I drink approximately a half gallon of water a day? Serious bodybuilders, knowledgeful people please help! 5 stars to best answer!

Answer

All oral medications go to the liver, to be broken down before going to the rest of the body. I'm going to use the example of vitamins. People may take alot of different kinds. There are two types of vitamins: water soluble and fat soluble. The water soluble ones usually don't stay in the body long...they are disposed of in the urine. So, if someone takes too much... that may not be a problem. However the fat soluble ones don't leave the body as fast. Many are stored in the liver itself. So taking too much can cause it to be toxic to the body and cause health problems. Just as people can have too little amounts, they can also have too high amounts.

Another example is certain minerals. Some people have hereditary conditions where the body holds onto too much iron or copper. However, someone can also consume too much iron or copper. This builds up in their organs and can affect every organ of the body. It is known that some symptoms of what a person takes into the body (like carrots which has beta carotene) which causes the skin, if eaten in excess, to become yellow....can mimic Jaundice (which is the yellowing of the whites of the eyes and skin due to bilirubin levels being high because of biliary or liver disease.

The point I'm trying to make is that everyone's body chemistry is different and how that person body handles different substances put into it is different. So, no one here would be able to tell you how your body will react to it or whether it is beneficial to do it or not. Your doctor does blood testing and by those tests results he can tell if your lacking in certain things, need replacement of certain things and how your body is reacting to it. Therefore, he would be the best one to ask this question to. He also has more knowledge about how the drugs are structured and work in the body and your medical background.

Those who have liver disease are told, No alcohol and not to take any medications that are not approved by or prescribed by their doctors. One reason is because the liver cells are damaged and may not handle the drugs appropriately now...another reason is because most people don't know how these drugs react with other drugs, foods, etc....another reason is because they take things thinking it will help when it will actually cause more damage or harm them. Mistakes being made where a person takes acetaminophen with alcohol which can cause instant liver cell damage is a good example.

I hope this has helped. Best wishes
